Happy New Year!

明けましておめでとうございます！Akemashite omedetō gozaimasu!

In case there hasn't been enough to celebrate these past few weeks, today marks the official two year anniversary of Ippo Ippo Japanese.

I decided to go full time as a tutor at a fairly unfortunate moment in hindsight, kicking off in January 2020 with little idea of what was in store. However, the world moving online turned out to be not such a painful transition for tutoring, and I have definitely found myself among the lucky ones.

All talk of Covid aside, my favourite thing about the last couple of years - apart from finally getting paid to geek out over the Japanese language - has undoubtedly been having the privilege of spending time with all my lovely Ippo Ippo students. If you're reading, thank you for being awesome! いつもありがとう！Itsumo arigatō!

While part of me feels like I should be doing something special to celebrate this evening, I think my original plans of pizza and a quiet one in will do just fine.
