Update

As of November 2023, I have shifted to a minimal teaching schedule of one day a week (Thursdays, 10-5pm). As such, my availability is very limited, and I am unlikely to be able to start teaching new students at short notice. If you would like to join my waiting list, however, please do get in touch.

Please be aware that I typically only pick up email and social media messages on Thursdays. If you need to get in touch more urgently, please do so over text or WhatsApp (WhatsApp is preferred) at +44 (0)7955 636 565 and I will get back to you ASAP.

Note: a small number of events (e.g. the Japanese Book Club) may still make take place on other days. Subscribe to my newsletter for updates.

FAQs

Do I Need to Prepare Anything?

The quick answer to this is not really - feel free to come as you are. However, to help you get the most out of your consultation, I suggest:

  • Making a note of any questions you have
  • Having a note of any study materials you have used in the past
  • Thinking about your learning aims and what you would like to get out of lessons
  • Considering if there are any support needs (e.g. dyslexia, ADHD, autism) you would like to let me know about

Will We Speak Japanese?

If you already speak some Japanese, this is a great opportunity to break the ice and give me the chance to get an idea of your level. That said, if you're feeling a bit nervous or are just having an off day, it's not compulsory by any means.

What Happens Afterwards?

If at the end of our consultation you are happy to proceed, we can go straight ahead and schedule lessons. You are also more than welcome to book an initial trial lesson without doing a consultation at all.

As my availability tends to fill up quite quickly, I may give a deadline by which you will need to let me know whether or not you'd like to go ahead with lessons.
